Mission Locations with Anna

The Mission District - Murals, more murals, even more murals, history, and the best Mexican food outside Mexico.

This is our second oldest neighborhood. Before the village that became San Francisco grew up around Presidio, Mission San Francisco de Asís stood on the banks of Arroyo de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores. It's also our most Mexican neighborhood, perhaps closest in spirit to what Don Francisco de Haro imagined when he tied survey lines to his veranda posts and laid out the streets of Yerba Buena.1Don Haro was the first and fifth Alcade. His brothers-in-law were the 8th and 11th. He probably did not imagine the murals nor becoming the mascot for San Francisco Dons.
