Although Far East Cafe opened in 1920 and decor dates back to that decade the building itself was completed in 1908 as part of the Chinatown resurrection after the 1906 fire. Today it's one of the last grand banqueting halls of Chinatown. Lunar New Year celebrations and Miss Chinatown Pageants are held here.
Far East Cafe is worth visiting just to see the dragon-shaped gateway, Qing dynasty kingfisher palace chandeliers, murals, and carved screens brought over from China over a century ago, but once you enter the magnificent smells will convince you to stay.
Far East Cafe specializes in Cantonese and Szechuan cuisine. For an elevated date experience or a private meeting consider booking one of their private booths.
